The technology of laser hair removal is advancing rapidly. In recent years, laser hair removal has been proven effective in removal of unwanted hair. Laser hair removal is based on the theory of selective photothermolysis where pigment within the hair shaft and the follicle is the targeted chromophore. The light energy causes thermal injury to the follicles. This instantaneously and permanently disables several hair follicles at once, which significantly impedes re-growth of the hair.

Laser hair removal is can be used on the face and other parts of the body. Typically three or four treatments are required. Each session took about thirty minutes, and hair did not return for three months.

The consultation
Before any hair removal service, a consultation is always necessary. It is the role of the hair removal specialist to ensure the clients are informed as to whether they are good candidates for laser hair removal and to ensure that those clients understand what the service entails to be effective. People with dark hair and light skin are the ideal candidates for laser hair removal.

Complications
The most common complications of laser hair removal include hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering, and scarring.
